Bucket List #31.

31. Get lie'd at the Polynesian. 01/26/2014

Arrival & Check In.

I finally arrived in Florida on Saturday the 25th! It was only about a 5 hour drive, but it felt like so much longer. After we got to Orlando, we checked into the condo that my grandparent's and mom were staying and then we went to Universal for a little bit.

Sunday, we went to Universal again and got back by 6, because I had to get ready and go to the Polynesian resort to finally meet my potential roommates (we still didn't know if we were going to end up together). We met up around 7:20 at the Polynesian. It was so excited to finally be able to meet everyone since we had been texting back and forth since October.

Left to right - Estefania, Lindsay, Tori, Me, Erica, and Paige.
The following day, Monday the 27th, was check in! We tried to get in early around 7:30, so we could get it over with and have time to move in, but we got kicked out and told to come back at a scheduled time. We hung out across the street and came back at 8:45 AM.

The line wasn't bad at all. We got temporary ID's and then Paige and I were separated from the group because our last names begin with A-L. The first stop was to get our job assignments. My location is Animal Kingdom which I'm excited about because it has the best hours. I am working at Pizzafari. We then went to another booth where they gave us our housing assignments. I am living at Patterson Court in a 3 bedroom and the best part is, all the girls and I are assigned together! Then was talked to about Casting, which I had right after check in with Paige.

Temporary Disney name tag!
After check in, Paige and I got on the CP (college programer) bus that took us to Casting. There, we just handed in our I-9's, did background checks, fingerprints and learned some more about our jobs. The building is really cool. It is designed to look like Walt Disney's socks he always wore which were an Argyle pattern. The doorknobs on the building look like the ones from Alice In Wonderland and when you walk inside the first room are filled with Disney character statues and different pictures from different parks.

After casting, Paige and I finally got to go to our apartment. It's a lot nicer than I was expecting. We have a really nice sized living room and kitchen. It took so long to unpack and get everything settled, but it was a lot of fun.
Getting settled in our new apartment!

On The Road: Day 01 & 02.

Thursday morning, my Mom and I woke up, did some last minute packing and were out of the house by 10. We drove to my grandparents house, where we reloaded their car and then by 11:30, we were on our way. We only drove about 7 hours, because we had reservations at Harrah's Casino in Metropolis, IL. Luckily, the drive was pretty smooth and I got to sleep most of the time.
Metropois, IL.
Friday, day two of our driving, was a lot more eventful than the first. We left the hotel around 9 AM, thinking about driving a bit until we found somewhere for breakfast. In our minds, we had it planned that we would at least make it to Florida today. Our car apparently had a different plan....
13 hours from Metropolis, IL to Orlando, FL
When we were approaching the highway and started accelerating more, the car wouldn't go over 40 mph and made a weird noise when trying to do so. Obviously, we couldn't drive like that so put the nearest Dodge dealership into the GPS and headed there. After sitting around for awhile, the man said that there was no way we would be driving the car today. Having to be in Orlando, we didn't have the time to stay the night again for the car to be fixed. So on to plan B; we got a rental car, a Suburban. Originally we were driving a Dodge Caravan, so we thought a Suburban would be just as big to haul down all my stuff... my many boxes and suitcases full of stuff (okay, I might have overpacked just a bit). Anyway, our Caravan proved to have much more storage and space than the Suburban, but do not fear, after much time figuring how to cram everything into the backend, we figured it out and nothing was left behind!

After that we were off to Bob Evans for breakfast and did some re-planning of the trip. We thought it would be nice to make it as far as Alachua, Florida, which is a little over 2 hours from Orlando, that way we could get there and then spend the day at Universal Studios.

We drove till about 10 PM and only made it to Ashburn, Georgia. Now because, once again, I slept the entire car ride, I am wide awake. So I'm typing this and working on a video blog I've been filming bits and pieces of the entire way down. Hopefully, it turns out well.

4 and a half hours from Ashburn, GA to Orlando, FL tomorrow!
